Day 1: Departure From Tulsa

Day 2: Alaska Here We Come!

Alaska! Here we come. When thinking of Alaska, you think of sled dogs, snowcapped mountains, vast forests and land untamed and untouched. From the cruise on the Inside Passage, to the many awe-inspiring sights of Mt. McKinley, we’ll see it all, including Fairbanks and Anchorage. We’ll spend the night in Scottsbluff. (S. D.).

Day 3: Montana
We’ll continue north in Wyoming and Montana. We’ll be in Livingston, Montana, for the night.

Day 4: Calgary, Alberta

Bidding farewell to our country, we’ll travel to our neighbor, Canada. We’ll be in Calgary for the night.

Day 5: Jasper, B.C.
Just a few miles and we’ll enter the Canadian Rockies. We’ll stop at Banff and Lake Louise to marvel at the beautiful contrasts of flowering plants, icy blue water, and the Victoria Glacier looming behind the lake. As we continue north, great mountain ranges flank both sides of the road. We’ll truly be amazed as we stop to view the awe-inspiring site of the great Columbia Icefield. We’ll stop and view the tongue of the Athabasca Glacier. The night will be spent near Jasper.

Day 6: Smithers, B.C.
We will travel along scenic rivers most of the day. We will make a view stop at Mount Robson. We’ll drive through towering cedars between McBride and Prince George. The country will begin to rise again as we travel through twisting Buckley Valley to the coastal mountains where Smithers lies framed in the mountains. The Yellowhead Highway was voted the most scenic road in Canada. We’ll spend the night in Smithers at the base of Hudson Bay Mountain.

Day 7: Prince Rupert, B.C.
On our way to Prince Rupert, we will enter Ksan, the homeland of many generations of Indian people. The Ksan Indian Village consists of seven tribal houses, totem poles, and crafts. The six communal houses are all decorated with house paintings, carved interior poles and painted screens in traditional Northwest Coast Indian style. After lunch in Terrace, we’ll continue along the Skeena River to Prince Rupert where we will spend the night.

Day 8: Alaska
Today we board the ferry to Alaska for a memorable cruise on the scenic Inside Passage. We’ll pass through Ketchikan en route to Juneau. This will definitely be a highlight of the tour. We’ll spend the night on board.

Day 9: Juneau, Alaska
We continue cruising today to the capital of Alaska, Juneau where we will spend the night.

Day 10: Skagway, Alaska to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory
Skagway, once a population of 20,000, dwindled to 700. The population exploded in 1897 when hordes of “would be” prospectors, who heard of the Klondike gold strike, swarmed ashore at Skagway. We’ll spend some time in this unique town before following the route over the same treacherous mountains the prospectors took when rushing for gold. Of course, we’ll enjoy the trip in a luxury motorcoach and on a newly constructed road through the White Pass to Whitehorse, Yukon.

Day 11: Dawson City, Yukon
Today we travel to Dawson City. It was here that gold was first found in 1894, resulting in as many as 60,000 miners. By 1904, $100 million had been shipped from the Klondike. Here you will have a chance to pan for gold (optional). It will be Dawson City for the night.

Day 12: Fairbanks, Alaska
We’ll depart this morning and embark on one of the most beautiful drives yet, as we travel to Tok, Alaska. Our first stop in Alaska will be Chicken. We will continue on our way to the Golden Heart City, Fairbanks. Sit back and take in the magnificent views of snowcapped mountains and craggy peaks as we travel. We'll see the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. We'll enjoy a stop at the North Pole to shop at Santa's Land. We will be in Fairbanks for two nights.

Day 13: Point Barrow, Alaska
Today there will be an opportunity for an optional flight (by jet) across the Arctic Circle to Point Barrow. This is the furthest north on the North American continent. Here you will find the largest Eskimo settlement in the world. For those staying in Fairbanks, a local guide will join the group for an interesting sight-seeing tour of Fairbanks. This afternoon we'll board the sternwheeler riverboat for a half-day cruise on the Chena and Tanana Rivers. We'll see an authentic trappers base camp, Indian fishing wheels, and sled dogs. We also view homesteader's riverside log homes. This evening we will be delighted to a traditional Alaska Salmon Bake. There will be plenty of food to enjoy! Second night in Fairbanks.

Day 14: Denali, Mt. McKinley
This morning we're headed for Denali National Park. Weather permitting you will see Mt. McKinley rising higher than any other peak on our continent, to a height of 20,320 feet. Included will be a tour of Denali Park. ALASKA RAILROAD from Fairbanks to Denali. Add ($59.00) - OPTIONAL

Day 15: Anchorage, Alaska
Today we'll travel to Anchorage and have a guided tour. About half the people who live in Alaska (586,412 sq. miles) live in the city of Anchorage. We will spend two nights in Anchorage.

Day 16: Portage Glacier, Alaska
Today we’ll visit the Portage Glacier. Icebergs, as large as 60 feet high, cave off the face of the glacier into the 800 foot deep lake. We’ll be in Anchorage for our second night.

Day 17: Tok, Alaska
This morning we leave Anchorage. We will stop by Palmer Visitor’s Center where local arts and crafts of some 200 artisans are sold. Palmer is the supply center for the fertile farm area of Matanuska. This area yields two-thirds of Alaska’s agricultural products. Here cabbages can grow to weigh more than 70 pounds. We’ll continue to Tok, now a tourist town, but once a plush construction camp for workers building the Alaska Highway from 1942-46. We will stay in Tok for the night.

Day 18: Whitehorse, Yukon Territory
Departing Tok, we’ll travel to Whitehorse, the capital of the Yukon. Whitehorse was once the transportation headquarters for the Klondike Gold Rush. We will explore the historic Yukon River sternwheeler S.S. Klondike. We’ll go back in time this evening as we will be entertained at the “Frantic Follies” old time vaudeville show. We’ll stay in Whitehorse for the night.

Day 19: Watson Lake, Yukon Territory
Picturesque scenery and many beautiful lakes, including Teslin Lake, line the Alaskan Highway as we travel to Watson Lake. If you've brought your signpost, you may include it with the many signs already exhibited at the "signpost exhibit". We will be in Watson Lake for the night.

Day 20: Fort Nelson, B.C.
Sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery as we continue to Fort Nelson, B.C. for our overnight.

Day 21: Grande Prairie, Alberta
Today is our last day on the Alaskan Highway as we travel to Milepost 0 at Dawson Creek on the edge of the Plains. The night will be at Grande Prairie.

Day 22: Edmonton, Alberta
Our travels will take us into Alberta, Canada. We will be in Edmonton early this afternoon in time to visit the West Edmonton Mall, the largest in the world. It truly is an amazing structure. We’ll spend the night in Edmonton.

Day 23: Shelby, Montana
As we travel south through Calgary and the southern part of Alberta, we’ll look forward to returning to our country, U.S.A. We’ll spend the night in Shelby.

Day 24: Sheridan, Wyoming
This morning we’ll continue our travels through Great Falls and arrive in Sheridan for the night.

Day 25: Denver, Colorado
From Sheridan we travel south through Buffalo, Casper and Cheyenne before arriving in Denver for our last night.

Day 26: Homeward Bound!
Our dream trip to Alaska is coming to an end. It’s hard to believe. Would any one of us have ever believed that we would travel such a trip to the far country of Alaska where not so long ago there were no roads? We return home late in the afternoon, ready to tell our friends about our adventures to the heart of Alaska.
