including Fairbanks and Anchorage. We’ll spend the night
in Scottsbluff. (S. D.).

Glacier looming behind the lake. As we continue north, great mountain
ranges flank both sides of the road. We’ll truly be amazed
as we stop to view the awe-inspiring site of the great Columbia
Icefield. We’ll stop and view the tongue of the Athabasca
Glacier. The night will be spent near Jasper.

Day 10: Skagway, Alaska to Whitehorse,
Yukon Territory
Skagway, once a population of 20,000, dwindled to 700. The
population exploded in 1897 when hordes of “would be”
prospectors, who heard of the Klondike gold strike, swarmed ashore
at Skagway. We’ll spend some time in this unique town before
following the route over the same treacherous mountains the prospectors
took when rushing for gold. Of course, we’ll enjoy the trip
in a luxury motorcoach and on a newly constructed road through
the White Pass to Whitehorse, Yukon.

Day 11: Dawson City, Yukon
Today we travel to Dawson City. It was here that gold was
first found in 1894, resulting in as many as 60,000 miners. By
1904, $100 million had been shipped from the Klondike. Here you
will have a chance to pan for gold (optional). It will be Dawson
City for the night.

Day 12: Fairbanks, Alaska
We’ll depart this morning and embark on one of the most
beautiful drives yet, as we travel to Tok, Alaska. Our first stop

Golden Heart City, Fairbanks. Sit back and take in the magnificent
views of snowcapped mountains and craggy peaks as we travel. We'll
see the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. We'll enjoy a stop at the North
Pole to shop at Santa's Land. We will be in Fairbanks for two
nights.

Day 13: Point Barrow, Alaska
Today there will be an opportunity for an optional flight
(by jet) across the Arctic Circle to Point Barrow. This is the
furthest north on the North American continent. Here you will
find the largest Eskimo settlement in the world. For those staying
in Fairbanks, a local guide will join the group for an interesting
sight-seeing tour of Fairbanks. This afternoon we'll board the
sternwheeler riverboat for a half-day cruise on the Chena and
Tanana Rivers. We'll see an authentic trappers base camp, Indian
fishing wheels, and sled dogs. We also view homesteader's riverside
log homes. This evening we will be delighted to a traditional

This area yields two-thirds of Alaska’s agricultural products.
Here cabbages can grow to weigh more than 70 pounds. We’ll
continue to Tok, now a tourist town, but once a plush construction
camp for workers building the Alaska Highway from 1942-46. We
will stay in Tok for the night.
Day 18: Whitehorse, Yukon Territory
Departing Tok, we’ll travel to Whitehorse, the capital
of the Yukon. Whitehorse was once the transportation headquarters
for the Klondike Gold Rush. We will explore the historic Yukon
